This game feels like it wants to be a slow-paced tactical shooter. However, once you get used to the game, you really can just run everywhere so long as you stick near cover. Weapon handling is not so slow that you are punished for sprinting into a gunfight. Enemies don’t deal enough damage to you to worry that much about getting hit by a few stray rounds. If you can consistently hit headshots with your pistol or rifle (or SMG or shotgun maybe, but I haven’t really used those weapons that much), then you will clear everything fairly easily. This becomes even easier when you put a suppressor on your gun because less enemies will rush you when you get into a gunfight.
You only need to play defensively when there’s the shotgun guys with the helmets (and even then, not THAT defensively), when you are fighting the boss who is just simply a bullet sponge, and when you are at extraction.
I’ve done multiple campaigns solo like this, so it’s not like a got a fluke run or it only works with overwhelming numbers.
Either the game needs higher difficulty options or there needs to be more punishment for running around like a madman.
